In the following we will show how to generate the source file for Xilinx VivadoДЇinally we will present how our simulated full adder circuit works along with the programmed Basys 3 hardware.ДЄs you can see, in all cases, the results are exactly the same. (See our previous video: Programming FPGA boards with TINA using Schematic Design Entry) In the following we will test our circuit in a real environmentВ usingВ theВ Digilent Basys 3 Artix-7 FPGA Trainer Board.ДЄs it can be seen, this circuit is alreadyВ preparedВ forВ theВ FPGA ToolВ export. If Carry_In isВ high,В then the output values change as ifВ we have added one to theВ fullВ adder.

WhenВ Carry_InВ is High while both inputs are high then Sum andВ Carry_OutВ are also high.

WhenВ Carry_InВ is High while only one input is high then Sum is low andВ Carry_OutВ is also high.

WhenВ Carry_InВ is High while both inputs are low, then Sum is high too andВ Carry_OutВ is low.

Now,В letвЂ™sВ see what happens whenВ Carry_InВ is high.

When both inputs are high whenВ Carry_InВ is low, then Sum is low andВ Carry_OutВ is high.

When just one input is low whileВ Carry_InВ is low, then Sum is high andВ Carry_OutВ is also low.

Start the simulation by pressing the Dig Interactive button. The circuit operates like a half adder while the Carry-In value is low. This one-bit full-adderВ cellВ has three inputsВ (A, B,В Carry_In)В and two outputsВ (Sum,В Carry_Out) by applying a half adder to accept the carry-in (Carry_In) input from the previousВ less-significantВ stage of aВ multipleВ bit adder. This combinational circuit adds two binary digitsВ andвЂЇa carry-in to produce a sum and carry-out. Most digital circuitsвЂЇthat perform addition or subtraction use full adder. Start TINA, then openВ the Full_Adder_VHDL.tscВ from the TINA Examples folder. Now,В letвЂ™sВ seeВ anВ example,В aВ fullВ adder using the half-adder VHDL macros. Now, in this video tutorial ourВ circuit, a full adder, will beВ based on the VHDL hardware description language.ДЄs we stated earlier,В TINAВ works withВ schematics, but weВ can also place HDL macros, including VHDL and Verilog, in the design.
